Message: Whilst saying goodnight to friends a very bright green fireball caught my eye as it streaked northwards east of where I live in north Liverpool.
I'm used to seeing shooting stars however this was comet-shaped and appeared quite large; what really surprised me was the vivid green colour and that nobody else has reported seeing this to my local newspaper.
My startled reaction gave my wife quite a fright, unfortunately it was only me witnessed it.
Very clear and really beautiful just wish I had my camera ready on video.

The witness is a member of a forum and told me that some others have posted

I was standing looking east, in Blackpool (UK)
"Approx 10 minutes ago, I saw a massive fireball in the sky, classic
bright white/green glow. I watched it for about 4-5 seconds and it only
dulled very slightly, but did get a wee bit smaller, before it vanished out of
view behind trees and houses.
It definitely did not look like it was going to burn out before it hit
the ground.
Another fact about it, about 200-300 yards down the street and I heard a
load of kids react to it as well .. it was quite funny, loads of "ahhh
what the hell", so I know I was not the only person to have seen it . (and
i'm not going to go asking kids in a park to double check )
Just wondering, did anyone else see this? .. it was pretty special!""
