Message: My Mother called to me to look at what she described as a bright red star. When I looked out of the window I knew immediately it was no star. It was a fiery red object, in the distance, still, about 30' in the sky. Half the size of what the moon would be in the sky, and slightly flickering. We both looked at it, and I went to get my camera, unfortunately as it happened, as when I got back to the window a minute later it had gone. The sky was a little cloudy, but you could see stars where the object had been a moment earlier, so it couldn't have been covered. It wasn't a hot air balloon, as it was an unusually still evening and you would have been able to hear it. A plane was flying at the same time towards it, so the difference between the two lights was extreme.
