'I got chills up my spine':
Woman claims she spotted a UFO above village
Witness then claims military aircraft arrived at the scene; expert admits: 'It is a mystery'

07-04-2018 Report : Mystery Black Tri Craft Seen Over Lanchester, County Durham, UK

A woman says she felt ‘chills up her spine’ after spotting a UFO.

Suzanne Riley claims she watched a black craft hover over trees while driving home from work on Saturday.

“I thought a Deceptacon Transformer was gonna land on my car,” posted Suzanne on Facebook.

She told ChronicleLive how the sighting on Saturday - above the A691 - has left her “scared and confused”.

“I was staring at it in shock thinking ‘what the hell is that!’” said Suzanne.

“Cars around me were stopping and I nearly hit the man in front in a red car who had jumped out with his phone.

“I can’t stop thinking about it”.

Suzanne claims that a military aircraft arrived moments later.

She described the silent aircraft as having a “triangular angled” appearance, and said it had no obvious windows or doors.

“(It had) lots of edges going on all over it, not just a triangle in the sky,” she added.

(There were) no real wings that would expect to see, or propellers that were visible.

“I’m not sure I could even sketch it.”

Friends have suggested it could be a Nighthawk stealth aircraft.

The 1,00km/h craft was developed by Lockheed’s secretive Skunk Works division, rising to prominence in the Gulf War.

However it was officially retired in 2008, and North-East UFO expert Glen Richardson questions if it was that particular model.

“I doubt that sort of plane would be around our neck of the woods,” said Hartlepool-based Glen.

“I very much doubt from where it was spotted it would be military testing.

“But I’m in the dark as to what it could be.”

He said he would like to investigate Suzanne’s sighting and both have urged anyone with footage to come forward.

The sighting occurred mid-afternoon near the County Durham village of Lanchester.

And Glen claims the latest incident is just one of many to hit the region recently.

“There’s been a canny wave in the North-East recently and I don’t know why,” he said.

“Newcastle-way seems particularly active - it could just be more people are having the confidence to speak out about what they see.”

He added that footage is key to any investigation.

Suzanne said she had “no instinct” to get a snap, but has urged anyone with footage to come forward to help shed some light on her close encounter.

“It has left me a bit scared and confused because of the lack of knowledge coming forward as to what it was,” she added.

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said that three Apache helicopters were in the area that day, though the Government body declined to comment any further.

But Suzanne insists: “It definitely wasn’t a helicopter in any way, shape or form.

“We can all identify a helicopter no matter what it looks like, I have even flown in a helicopter, it was NOT a helicopter at all.”

Unfortunately, Suzanne Riley didn't think to get her phone out during the encounter.

I think the response from the MOD is very interesting and in a way back's up Suzanne's account of the sighting. Now with the MOD's confirming that 3 Apache helicopters were there at the date and time of Suzanne's sighting for me confirms Suzanne's account.

What was it that Suzanne had witnessed I'm not sure, but what I am convinced is that Suzanne did witness something, (craft) which at the moment can't be explained. Glen Richardson - UFO Investigative Researcher
