Very bright, round light moving from west to east quite low in the sky.

No sound, but object was moving as if it was under control.

I am an avid sky watcher and know the difference between stars, planets,
satellites and drones; this was neither of those; I have lived very close to
the airport for over 40 years and see on coming aircraft frequently.

I was with my brother and a friend at the time of the sighting. (end)

Update to our request for further information:

Hello guys, in response to your email I would like to add the following in
the hope it may well help detailed description.

The light was extremely bright, spherical and quite low in relative to the
horizon. The light was white with a slight tinge of yellow round the edges.

It was low enough to see if it was yet another Chinese lantern and in my
opinion this was not the case. The sighting happened at almost 1 am when
the majority of people are in bed. The stars and planets were stationary
as the object moved past them and it was too low for it to be a satellite.

It made no noise whatsoever, so I would rule out a drone as it was very
bright as though it was internally lit rather than having external lights.

I have viewed on-coming aircraft on a regular basis as I live next to
Manchester International Airport and at first I thought this could be the
case, however I watched the light for approx.1-2 minutes as it flew by,
changing my view point and at no time did the object make any noise
or have any of the normal lights that aeroplanes have.

It had no wings or other determinable shape other than spherical,
also it was not on any of the regular flight paths in or out of Manchester
Airport: It was a very clear night with little or no wind yet the object did
seem to move in a purposeful way. The object was quite large relative
to a balloon or lantern. It was to low for a satellite or the space station
as I have viewed these in the past, it was moving quite fast approximately
20 to 30 mph as it made its way from
directly above towards the Stockport
area Unfortunately my phone had
a broken screen which led to me not
being able to take a photo of the light.

This is not the first time I have witnessed either a strange light or a solid
object in our skies. As I mentioned in our earlier correspondence.

I am an avid sky watcher with an interest in aviation and astronomy.

Any further sightings I will endeavor to take a photo as my phone is now
fixed.

With regards.
