"Shape-Shifting Orb" Seen Over Leatherhead, Surrey, UK - August 17, 2015

A "shape-shifting orb" has once again raised questions about the possibility of aliens touring the skies above Mole Valley.

Mystery surrounds a sighting of the orb which was seen hovering under the clouds above the center of the Leatherhead. This latest finding follows reports of a fast-moving yellow light in the sky above Box Hill in July.

Leatherhead's latest potential extra-terrestrial visit was witnessed on August 17 by Gary Curtis at Mole Business Park off Station Road. He told the Dorking Advertiser newspaper: "I was at the business park when three jets flew over in formation. As it's not a familiar sight I watched as they passed over and flew out of sight.

"Moments later an 'orb' followed in an erratic zig-zagging pattern and at times hovering as though 'scanning'. It seemed to be metallic as the top of it reflected sunlight, and the bottom appeared to be a dull grey colour.

"Every few seconds its shape seemed to warp into more of a 'diamond' shape, then back into its circular shape. I considered whether it was a bird, but due to its shape that didn't seem correct. It made no noise, unlike a helicopter, so that option was ruled out.

"It was difficult to guess what height it was flying at as the only reference was the clouds, which it was under. I forget the exact time of day, but it was roughly between 2.30pm and 3pm."

Mr Curtis has searched online for other sightings of the same orb, but has so far not found other reports of the phenomenon that day.

However he himself has experienced a similar encounter in the past. He said: "Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures, which obviously calls what I saw into question. I was watching the orb in confusion wondering what it was and it didn't even come into my mind to take a picture.

"Many years ago in the early 90's I was at the Notting Hill Carnival watching a band perform. It was blue sky as far as the eye could see and there was a stationary object in the sky, it was reflecting sunlight so I guessed it was metallic.

My friend noticed it too and a number of other people as well. It suddenly seemed to vanish leaving no contrails, and the fact there was completely clear blue sky baffled me."

Leatherhead joins a long list of Mole Valley locations where UFO sightings have been reported in recent times. In addition to last month's light over Box Hill, in September last year mysterious red and blue lights were spotted over Wotton, while in 2013 red and orange lights were seen in the skies above Dorking.
